On Thursday September 29th Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Chattanooga (CCCS) and Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA) joined forces to provide a Homeownership Fair. Lenders, real estate agents, and other local organizations provided community members with the resources necessary to become homeowners.
With the help of Chicken w/ Bones food truck, who provided a free meal to each attendee, the event was able to draw in about 75 potential homeowners. Community members were able to talk to more than 10 area organizations & businesses on how to work towards becoming a homeowner.
With today’s climate many people don’t realize how close they are to becoming a homeowner. Many believe that they don’t have enough money saved or that their credit score needs to be in the 800’s. This is not the case. There are many programs that accept lower credit scores and offer down payment assistance.
Unknown to many, CCCS is the biggest asset in becoming a homeowner. CCCS provides services that are focused on assisting with budgets, providing the tools necessary to increase credit scores, in addition to education on the home buying process. If you are looking to buy a home or want to get information about how to work towards becoming a homeowner, schedule an appointment today and let's start your homeownership journey together!
